RAFFLE
On a lark, I mail ordered a new Hasbro blow up SCRABBLE game. The kit consisted of a tabl, four cushions (that spell out P L A Y, one on each seat cushion), magnetic tiles, and four magnetic racks. We blew the cushions up and displayed them at the tournament. After a few positive comments, I decided to raffle off the blow up game--$2 per ticket or 3 tickets for $5--and quickly garnered $125!

So, I decided to sweeten the pot by giving the raffle winners their choice of:
-the blow up SCRABBLE game
-a beautiful fine art bowl thrown and glazed by Diana Spiller (it has tiles on it and it was a quiz with a solution). Prized by all who saw it.
-the rest of the cash.

The first raffle winner, Sandy Loiterstein, took the cash (minus the $50 cost of the blow up game and shipping), the second winner, Pat Gehrmann chose the bowl, and the third winner, Bruce Adams, got the blow up game.

The rest of the awards ceremony was lost in the fun we all had watching Bruce try to deflate the set and fit it back into its box!

The tournament went pretty smoothly and the complaints were few. I pretty much kept it running on time, but I had to start a clock or two to do so. . .

I think I speak for us all when I say we had fun in the sun.
