An internet posting I made about the pairs event:

"We had joy, we had fun.
We had seasons in the sun...."

Oh, what I meant to type is WHAT A HOOTNANNY we had tonight at the Sea Crest. A total of 56 players gathered to play in four divisions of pairs SCRABBLE. There were many highlights, but two of my favorites centered on a new player in our midst: Jeanne Freebody. Some of you may notice that last name. She is Lawren's cousin and this is her first tournament. She played with Dorothy Luckey and they were UNDEFEATED: 3-0 +275, the best record of the night. Needless to say, they won their division. Showing some of her Freebody spirit, Jeanne shocked everyone at her table (probably even her partner), when she found an oubingo of THEiSMS/QUAIS to win the game for her and Dorothy!!

I'm not sure who made the play, but I took an adjudication at their table later on. Someone tried STRAPON. I had to fight not to laugh. :)

Anyway, I can't wait to see how she does over the next two days. Division 4: WATCH OUT!
