DETAILS
The Housatonic Valley encompasses Newtown, where the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Brunot became the first SCRABBLE® manufacturing site. In 1997, the Housatonic Valley Tourism District (HVTD) contacted the NSA and then us about holding a tournament in the area. The outcome was the 1998 Eastern Championship in Danbury, Connecticut, a prosperous and attractive city of about 65,000. We are pleased to return to Danbury once again for the seventh annual Eastern Championship.

The HVTD will again provide many extras, including commemorative T-shirts, info packs about the Danbury area, dine-around coupons, late night snacks in the skittles room, the Sunday New York Times, and more. Upon arrival at the Inn, be sure to go the HVTD hospitality desk to pick up your "goody bag."

This year we'll again be at The Inn At Ethan Allan (203-744-1776) just off Exit 4 I-84 in Danbury. The Inn features well-appointed rooms, fine dining, an exercise room and sauna, and racquetball. A lounge area for between-round smokers will be located a comfortable distance down the hallway, and a skittles room will be available for after-dinner play Saturday and Sunday nights. The Inn is easily reached by car, train, or plane.

Airport Arrival
Connecticut Limousine (800 472-LIMO) provides service from Newark, La Guardia, Kennedy, and Bradley (Windsor Locks, CT) airports to the Radisson Hotel, which is just down the street from the Inn. Once at the Radisson call the Inn (203-744-1776) to arrange for a lift. Taxis and rental cars are available from Westchester Airport (While Plains, NY), or Stewart International Airport (Newburgh, NY).

By Train
Metro North provides commuter service to Danbury and Brewster, NY, from New York City and New Haven. The HVTD will provide transport to and from the Brewster station Friday and Monday afternoons. Please check the appropriate box on the entry form if you will be using this service. If you know when you'll be arriving, the HVTD would appreciate that information as well. If not, call the Inn (203-744-1776) upon arrival at Brewster.
